HND TOKYO TT0107 /221750 |
General: |
Originally built as the domestic airport for the city, but today also handles international flights due to it's more convenient location close to the city centre |
Appearance: |
The airport appears modern and well designed |
Domestic
I have not arrived on a domestic flight at this airport
International
On landing it's a walk up the jet bridge and into the terminal building - we were parked quite far down the terminal so there was a long walk back to the immigration hall, once through immigration and customs you exit into the transport hub where you can connect on into Tokyo
The large and well staffed immigration hall was speedy and efficient. Face scans, finger prints and passport details, along with customs declarations, are taken on machines before you go through to an officer to have an arrival stamp in your passport
Immediately behind the immigration desks are the baggage belts and despite it being a full flight bags were round within a few minutes of landing
Beyond the baggage belt is the customs desks where you once again scan you passport which links to your customs declaration and then you're through into the arrivals lounge
There are regular JR rail services to the centre of town as well as the Tokyo Monorail which runs to the edge of the city centre. Journey times to the centre of Tokyo are around 20-25 minutes
