General:

The main airport for Lewis and Harris, located a couple of miles from the island capital of Stornoway

Appearance:

A small functional building resembling a cross between a light industrial estate building and a out of town shop. Everything with the exception of the departure gates is in one open space

Inbound

Domestic
After stepping down from the plane and walking across the tarmac you enter straight into baggage reclaim where there is a single belt. As there are no international flights from this airport the arrivals hall is also the main departures area and waiting area for people meeting arrivals. Its a couple of steps out the door to the car park

There are no international flights so no immigration facilities are provided

A single baggage carousel in the main departures hall!

There are no international flights so no customs facilities are provided

There are a handful of buses a day Monday to Saturday (no public transport operates on a Sunday on the Western Isles), though they don't appear to match the flight times particularly well. Journey time into the centre of Stornoway is about 15 minutes. Alternatively if the weather is good its a very pleasant 70 or so minute walk mostly on the flat to the centre of town.

Outbound

Domestic
There are just three checkin desks, from there it's a general seating space that covers both the cafe, departures and people waiting for arrivals. Only once the flight has been called can you walk through the small security screening area into the single gate room which has two doors acting as the two gates

The café has a chiller with bottles of beer and alco-pops in it, along with a selection of sandwiches.

A small café in the main body of the airport, also doubling as the shop

There are no restaurants at the airport, though the café does offer a small selection of hot food

1 small shop combined with the café

The toilets are clean
