General:

Main airport for the holiday resorts of the Algarve and at the time of visiting being expanded

Appearance:

The airport has clearly been expanded recently and was undergoing an even bigger expansion at the time of visiting

From landing it's a quick walk up the air bridge to the terminal building and a walk from quite a far gate back to the centre of the building and down a series of escalators to immigration then out into the large baggage reclaim hall, through a relatively small customs hall and out into arrivals.

On arrival there were a couple of staff on and they were processing quickly, on the return journey there was just one person trying to process two flights worth of UK bound passengers

A large baggage reclaim hall with several belts and lots of light.

A relatively small customs hall which had green and blue channels combined

There are roughly hourly buses from the airport into town

After checking in you walk behind the desks to reach the security screening area and then out into the main departures lounge. The whole process was very quick. For non-Schengen flights you have to pass through passport control in the main departures lounge, which at the time of visiting had just one person processing the passports for two full London bound flights.

A fair selection of Café/Bars both landside and airside

A fair selection of Café/Bars both landside and airside

A small selection of restaurants airside

A large number of shops, including a massive tax free shop, airside

The toilets were relatively clean
