General:

Only airport on the island, located about 30 minutes from Douglas

Appearance:

The outside of the building looks very 1930's airport but the inside has been fully refurbished

Inbound

Domestic
Looks as though they had only just finished taking the protective plastic off everything. Very new and shiny arrivals hall, very efficient staff meant that luggage was round very quickly

International
Although technically an independent Crown Protectorate all flights to the Isle of Man from the UK (and probably the few flights from Ireland) are treated as domestic - also on the grounds that as the island only has one airport it would be impossible for it to have it's own domestic flights!

Very basic checks done just to ensure that you had a passport rather than a proper inspection.

Large and spacious area which looks almost brand new. Considering the size of the planes that can land at the airport the baggage reclaim hall looks as though they have over catered and ordered sufficient for a 747!

Officially Domestic flight so no need to go through customs

Buses leave from outside the terminal building into Douglas, Castletown and Port Erin. A short walk from the airport is the railway station, though trains are not that regular and the stop is by request only.

Outbound

Domestic
Very light and airy. Only drawback is that there is one member of staff to run both the bar and the shop in the departures lounge, so you can wait a long time to get service in either

Small cafe/restaurant and bar on the land-side. On the air-side there is a small bar that also serves some food and tea/coffee. Only problem with this is that the person running this also runs the attached shop so you can wait some time to be served.

Couple of small units on the land-side. On the air-side the shop is run by the same person running the bar/restaurant/cafe so you can wait some time to be served.

The toilets are very clean and well maintained.
