General:

The main airport for Portugal and the hub for services across the country

Appearance:

A relatively modern airport, but parts look quite elderly once you are inside

After being bussed to the terminal, as the plane had landed on a stand rather than by an air bridge, it’s a short walk to the immigration desks, then down an escalator into the very large baggage reclaim hall

Several desks open with very short queues and very quick service

A large baggage hall on two levels. The whole area was littered with luggage from previous days flights because of problems in London

A short corridor with no sign of any staff

The Aero bus runs from the front of the building into the centre of town

Despite a large space, the check-in area was very crowded and busy, beyond checkin it’s a short walk to the security area and then straight up escalators to the duty/tax free shop and departures lounge

Several café/bars both land side and airside

Several café/bars both land side and airside

A couple of restaurants on both landside and airside

Several shops landside and a large number, including a large duty/tax free shop just the other side of security

The toilets are very clean and well maintained.
