The original part of the airport, divided into three areas A, B and C.

Appearance:

From the inside a modern a sleek building with lots of glass and light.

Have not come into this airport on a domestic flight

On arrival you climb up the exit ramp to the top floor of the terminal which is very light and airy and almost totally glass. You can look down into the departures lounge from the gangway. It's a short walk from the air-bridge to the escalator that takes you back down to immigration and from there into the large and airy baggage hall. Then it's straight through the very small customs hall and out into the land-side of the airport.

Exiting from the plane there is a short walk to the immigration desks which clear you quickly into the country.

The baggage reclaim hall is very light and airy with several belts, baggage came round in a matter of moments.

The customs hall is very small, barely a few feet wide and with no-one in it!

S-Bahn lines S1 and S8 operate directly from the airport station just below the terminal buildings into the centre of the city taking about 25 minuets. Each line runs every 20 minutes providing a combined 10 minute service (S8 trains are twice as long as S1 trains as these join onto another train further down the line)

Share the same facilities as international.

The airport is zoned so that all the facilities are close together. I flew from Zone B which, given that it is only one of about 5 or 6 zones in the airport, is about as large as Terminal 2 at Heathrow!! After checking in you walk through the security check into the departures lounge which has a couple of shops, a pleasant cafe/restaurant and the gates. No long walks, no trouble in finding where you are leaving from!

Several bars, cafes and restaurants dotted all around the place on the land side of the airport. Once through to airside (section B) there was one Bar/Restaurant that also served as a coffee shop for the 15 or so gates.

In the main centre part of the airport, at the join between terminals 1 and 2 there is a shopping centre with a large number of shops. Once through security there are a couple of shops.

The toilets are very clean and well maintained
