Main airport for the north of Greece |

Generally modern, but starting to look a little dated in places |
Domestic
I have not arrived on a domestic flight at this airport
International
On landing the plane, for extra-Schengen flights, is parked away from the building and you have to be bussed to it. There is a large immigration hall with only a couple of manned booths so it took some time to be processed, then it's through into the quite cramped baggage reclaim hall and then out through a set of doors acting as the Green and Blue channels at customs into the arrivals area.
Immigration was quite slow with only a couple of booths manned
The cramped baggage hall is not helped by luggage delivery being quite slow.
To declare anything you have to pick up the phone, otherwise it's straight out from the baggage hall into the arrivals hall
There are buses from the airport to the city centre taking around 40 minutes. During high season these are frequent, out of high season they are less frequent and at irregular times. Buses are also subject to getting caught up in Thessaloniki's poor traffic so don't appear to stick to any form of timetable
Domestic
I have not flown domestically from this airport
International
There is a very small check-in area, made worse by the fact the airport does not support online check-in so everyone has to check-in at the desk. Through the small, and cramped, security screening area you reach the equally small departures lounge. There are no air bridges so access to all planes is via walking across the tarmac, or in the case of extra-Schengen flights by bus to the plane parked on the apron
There is one small café/bar airside and a couple landside

There were no real restaurant facilities airside
A couple of small shops
The toilets were adequate
