General:

Large airport located on the edge of the city

Appearance:

The airport looks like it was in the process of major renovation when I visited with some areas much nicer than others

Inbound

Domestic
I have not arrived on a domestic flight at this airport

International
After landing it's a relatively short walk into the terminal building and down into the immigration hall. This is a large space with lots of automated immigration and customs machines that you complete landing processes on. After getting a printed receipt you walk to an official who checks your card, asks a couple of questions and then waves you through. A set of escalators take you down to the large baggage reclaim hall, customs and finally the exit to the arrivals hall

Immigration was speedy and efficient, with the bulk being carried out on terminals

The large baggage reclaim hall feels, despite its size, quite small and claustrophobic - possibly due to the number of people there at the time

There is a long corridor you have to walk down and hand your printed immigration and customs declaration to the officer at the end.

There are regular buses from outside the terminal. All services run to a metro station on the edge of the city, with around half continuing on into downtown Montreal

Outbound

Domestic
I have not flown domestically from this airport

International
The check-in area was quite crowded with a lot of desks close to each other. From check-in it’s a short walk to the security and screening area which again was very busy but moving quickly. Once through security you are into the main departures lounge which is divided into three sections - one for domestic flights in Canada, one for flights to the US and finally, the other side of an additional boarding card check area, the international concourse. Not all the gates have airbridges and 'mobile lounges' shuttle you across to the plane

Several cafes and bars both airside and landside

Several cafes and bars both airside and landside

A large number of restaurants once airside, not so much landside

Several large shops, including a large duty free store airside

The toilets were very clean and well maintained
