General:

Last London airport to be built from scratch. Located in the Docklands just a couple of miles from the centre of London

Appearance:

From the outside you could mistake it as an overly large retail park. Inside it is light an airy but looks as though time is coming for a refurbishment

Inbound

Domestic
Very quick and straight forward to get though. A single short corridor with a room in the middle where you pick up your baggage.

International
Considering it's such a small airport there is quite a long walk from the gate to immigration and then through to baggage reclaim.

No formal area though there were officials pulling some people over in the corridor before reaching baggage reclaim. I assume these were for passports and not just over zealous survey people! - Domestic; Small hall with three people checking all passports - International

Very cramped and stuffy room with a single baggage belt - Domestic.; Slightly larger and less stuffy area, but still with one belt - International.

Very small corridor between baggage reclaim and the arrivals hall with no-one in sight. - Domestic; Small customs area with a Green/Blue and a Red channel and about 5 bored looking customs officials - International

Regular (but expensive) shuttle busses to Canary Wharf (Docklands Light Railway and London Underground) and Liverpool Street (London Underground and National Rail) or Canning Town (Docklands Light Railway, London Underground and National Rail) operate. In addition regular local buses run back to Canning Town and are much cheaper.

Outbound

Domestic
Quite small for the number of people using it and starting to look a little dated. In areas there are leaks from the ceiling adding an air that it is getting a little rundown

International
All flights are within the EU or British Crown Protectorates (Isle of Man, Channel Islands) so are treated as domestic

Couple of cafe/restaurants come bars on the land-side. One multipurpose Bar/Cafe/Restaurant in the departures lounge air-side.

Couple of shops on the land-side of the airport with a few more once you are through into the air-side.

The toilets are clean and maintained.
