description | A large number of bus routes criss-cross the city going out as far as the French border and beyond. Most of the buses look relatively new with some that appear to only have just had the bubble-wrap taken off of them. As with everything else Swiss the buses were on time all the time, even with traffic jams! |

description | Since first visiting in 2004 all of the trolley buses have been replaced - with some very modern and sleek buses now running across the city. The main one used was the number 10 from the airport into the city centre. |

description | A couple of tramlines cross the city with most converging on either the central station or the main shopping street. Since my first visit in 2004 it looks like most of the fleet has been replaced with modern low-floor trams - though a few high-floor trams do still exist on route 12. True to type all the trams were on time to the minute. |

description | 4 routes cross the lake from the area near the United Nations and Red cross to the very centre of the city. The boats are included in the tourist tickets and are well worth using to see the city from a slightly different angle. |
