Ignoring the fact that it’s more than double the price, it also meant being on the train with luggage at the height of the evening rush hour, which is never great.
Thankfully the revised journey worked flawlessly, and I made it to the airport only a little bit later than my original plan. I quickly cleared security and then headed to the lounge to grab a bite to eat before heading down to the gate to board.
A slight sense of déjà vu as it was exactly the same gate that my flight to Oslo had left from almost exactly three weeks earlier, and once again SAS demonstrated that they are much better than other airlines at getting a flight boarded and away on time, with another really short taxi, we were airborne less than 10 minutes after pushing back.
It was a smooth flight all the way up to Copenhagen and then a relatively quick journey through immigration, so that I was in my hotel room a little bit before 11pm, quite a lot earlier than I had been expecting, which was good as I needed to be up again in about 7 hours’ time.
