General: |
Locate on the site of the former Shorts aircraft factory, by the shipyards, the City Airport is almost in the heart of the city centre |
Appearance: |
The airport opened in 1983 and following refurbishment, still looks very modern |
Domestic
The arrivals hall is only separated from the departures lounge by a single wall, and in the process of landing you have to cross the stream of departing passengers to get to the baggage reclaim hall. From there its through a set of door and, if you are not careful, straight into the security queue for departing passengers
International
The airport only handles domestic flights (Flights between the UK and Eire are treated as effectively domestic by the two countries)
None - Airport is domestic only
Despite being a small airport, they manage to squeeze two baggage reclaim belts into the baggage hall
None - Airport is domestic only
There are frequent buses from the front of the airport to the city centre, taking about 10 minutes
Domestic
As the airport is quite small everything is close to everything else. The queuing system for the security system starts just in front of the main entrance, with the check-in desks just to one side. Through the security check you are in the large departures lounge, from which all the gates come off of. From checkin to gate, with good speed through security could take less than two minutes.
