General:

The second largest airport of Croatia, and the main airport for this part of the coast

Appearance:

The airport was almost destroyed in the 1991-2 siege and had to be rebuilt. With Dubrovnik's popularity as a destination increasing the airport was in the process of being massively upgraded and expanded at the time of visiting, and was consequently a bit of a building site. On second visit in July 2014 the new terminal space was light and airy, but works still appeared to be continuing around the building

Inbound

Domestic
After arriving you are taken by bus to the baggage reclaim hall, and from there it's a short walk out into the arrivals hall

International
As the airport is currently being rebuilt the arrivals process is currently quite cramped, after walking across the tarmac to a small flight of stairs that take you under the building works, you enter a small immigration hall, in which there was only one member of staff when I arrived. Behind the immigration desk is the single baggage belt which is watched over by customs officers, on leaving the baggage hall you exit directly into the arrivals lounge

The immigration area is quite small, and when I arrived there was only one member of staff on duty

The baggage reclaim belt (singular) is directly behind the immigration desks

Customs offices watch the baggage belt, as there is no separate customs hall

Airport busses meet each flight and take people into Dubrovnik

Outbound

Domestic
I have not flown domestically from this airport

International
After checking in you have to walk up to the upper level and along a long corridor to the single security screening area (at the time of travelling there were not many people about, but I would assume the corridor may be to hold the queues!). From security it’s a short walk to the Passport control desk, and then down a short flight of stairs into the international departures lounge. By 2014 this arrangement was still in place, but the departures lounge was significantly larger, lighter and with more facilities available.

There is nothing landside. Airside there are a couple of bar/cafe's
