General:

The only airport in the world which has the main road running across the runway! Originally built as an RAF station, and the main lifeline of the area during the period when the border was closed.

Appearance:

A modern airport terminal with lots of glass and light

After walking from the plane to the building you go straight into immigration and from there through to a cramped baggage reclaim hall with a single belt. The customs hall is slightly out of proportion with the rest of the airport, more resembling those at major city airports!

Two desks almost at the entrance door to the terminal building from the air field.

Quite cramped and dark with just the one belt

A large customs hall, which is out of proportion with the rest of the airport

Regular buses on route 5 leave from the opposite side of the road to the terminal building into the bus station in the centre of town. These buses are operated by a different company from all other buses in Gibraltar and tickets are not valid on each others routes. For most other parts of Gibraltar you would need to change buses in the Market Place and purchase a new ticket
