General:

The only airport on the island and the largest of the three airports on the Channel Islands

Appearance:

The gates look like something out of the early 1970's with bucket seats and very elderly looking digital displays that misguide you into thinking that this is an elderly airport. The outside of the arrivals terminal building is the original 1930's art deco building with a new modern departures building built onto the side.

Domestic
After the age of the gates it is a surprise to see how modern and well designed the airport actually is. Light and airy with high glass windows and high ceilings but in a small space. Very quick and easy to get through and baggage makes its way to the belt at the same time as you do.

My one real bugbear with Jersey is it's over officious immigration officials. On both occasions I have travelled to Jersey I have been stopped by the officials, the only person off the flight on both occasions. The first time I was questioned for 2 minutes. On the second occasion I had my passport taken off me for inspection and made to wait for nearly 10 minutes and given a barrage of questions about my intentions. It very nearly made me put Jersey into the Hall or Horrors.

Large and modern baggage hall with lots of space.

No customs section in the airport.

Regular service on bus route 15 into St Aubins and St Hellier.

Domestic
Very comfortable and modern design with decent catering and 2 shops (the airport only serves the Channel Islands, Southern UK and NW France so they it is not massive but what is there is well designed.) The only things behind security are a small duty free shop and the gates. Consequently security dissuade people from going through until their plane has actually been called.

1 Cafe/Restaurant and self service counter in the main departures area on land-side. There is nothing air-side.
