General:

The only airport for the province of Cadiz. Located about 10KM outside of Jerez it is in the process of having it's links to the region upgraded

Appearance:

A modern, but small airport

Inbound

Domestic
It's a short walk across the tarmac to the baggage hall. From the baggage hall it's a short walk through a very small customs area into the arrivals hall.

International
International arrivals appear to be the same as for domestic, except for a small desk which can open up as passport control

I've only flown on a domestic flight at this airport

The baggage hall has five large belts, which appears a little excessive for the number of flights it gets

There is a small customs hall between the baggage hall and arrivals hall. A the time of visiting there were a very large number of customs officials and police standing around, which was odd given the only things landing were internal flights

At the time of visiting the only way of getting into Jerez was an irregular (but roughly every 90 minute) coach service which takes around 30 minutes. A few of these coaches continue on into Cadiz (another 60 minutes or so) However, building work was already well underway on a railway station where the main Seville to Cadiz railway line passes behind the airport. Journey times would be around 5 minutes to the centre of Jerez and 55 minutes to Cadiz.

Outbound

Domestic
There are around 20 check-in desks located next to the security screening area which has a very long queuing system, which takes some time to negotiate when there is nobody else in it! Through security and you are straight into the departures area with 7 gates a small bar/cafe and a shop. From the gate it's a short walk across the tarmac (or, as it was when I left, buses to the plane if it's raining)

International
All international non-Schengen flights (at the time of visiting one daily Ryanair flight to London Stansted) leave from Gate 1 which has a small passport control booth between the gate check and the doorway, otherwise it's the same as for Domestic

There is nothing landside and one small café/bar airside

There is one small duty free/tax free shop in the departures lounge and a couple of small kiosks land side

The toilets are clean and well maintained
