Very good, cheap integrated network. Single journey tickets, transfer tickets and tickets that are valid on all transport for 1, 3, 7 days or blocks greater than that. Transport types range from typical eastern block trams and metros up to very modern low floor disabled friendly buses.
Most of the buses are modern clean vehicles with large numbers being low floor and disabled friendly. As all transport operates on validating tickets on boarding (rather than the silly British idea of paying the driver on boarding) they are very quick (3 sets of doors for boarding on most buses)
Operating only in Pest the trolley buses provide links around the edge of town. Most are quite elderly, but there are some new vehicles being introduced
Again, similar to the trams in most other former Eastern block countries (in fact all made by Skoda in Prague!). Simple and easy to use. Several routes are in the process of being upgraded, with modern low floor trams making bording much easier.
Four lines cross the city. Lines 1, 2 and 3 meet together in Deák Ferenc Tér. Line 2 has been upgraded to more modern trains to match those on the line 4 which opened in 2014.
The funicular railway runs from the Chain Bridge up to the Castle, and cuts off a hefty climb. Tickets are separate from the normal transport tarriff, and at times the queues can be quite long (Bus 16 runs from the opposite side of the road up into the castle every couple of minutes and is included in the transport tickets)
Perhaps one of the most bizarre forms of transport. A small railway that snakes its way up the side of the Buda hills to the terminus of the children's railway.
